1.

Welcomed to the table of the King,

Though no worth unto this meal we bring:

Come! Rememb'ring Him, we dine and sing.

(Luke 22:19, 2 Samuel 9:7,13, Romans 5:6-8)

2.

Like no bread the fathers ate and died,

This, His body, broken for His Bride:

Eat! Proclaiming Christ, the crucified.

(John 6:49-51, 1 Corinthians 11:24-26)

3.

From this cup, the blood of our High Priest,

Poured to cleanse the low, the last, the least:

Drink! Awaiting Heaven's wedding feast.

(Hebrews 9:11-12, Luke 22:20, Revelation 19:9)

About the Hymn

While reading Scripture, I was struck anew by the awe-inspiring truth that mere mortals are welcomed to the table of the King of Kings. That moment of reflection gave rise to this short hymn.

Welcomed to the Table is built around the three biblical tenses of the Lord's Supper: we remember Christ's once-for-all sacrifice, proclaim His death until He returns, and await the coming Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Each stanza moves through these themes with simplicity and reverence, inviting worshipers to Come! Eat! Drink!—echoing the liturgical action of the Supper itself.
