Hymn
Heaven's Filled with Prayers for You
Words: Ryan Daniel Cornett
Music: Ryan Daniel Cornett
Tune: BERNICE
Meter: 8.6.8.6.8.6. w/ Refrain
Stanza 1
Before the sun begins to rise
Your name is on some mind;
Like smoke from incense seeks the skies,
Their pleas, the Father, find.
Although your kin may now be few,
A loved one prays for you.
Refrain
Your name is carried to the throne,
You do not tread this path alone;
Christ and His saints are walking too,
Heaven's filled with prayers for you,
Heaven's filled with prayers for you.
Stanza 2
The children of the Father kneel
To make petition there;
They cry to Him, in meek appeal,
Who knows the load you bear.
They see you burdened in your pew:
The brethren pray for you.
Stanza 3
The Spirit, who within you dwells,
Breathes what a word can't say;
His perfect groaning never fails
To help you when you pray.
Mere human speech will never do:
The Spirit prays for you.
Stanza 4
The One who sits at God's right hand,
Himself will intercede;
On your behalf He lives to stand,
His blood will ever plead.
How wondrous that this word is true:
The Savior prays for you.
About the song
From the prayers of loved ones and fellow saints to the perfect intercession of the Holy Spirit and the risen Christ, the hymn celebrates God's gracious provision of prayer and the sustaining fellowship of His people. This fairly modern sounding tune is named for my paternal grandmother who has been present with the Lord since 2008.
